Got a question about weight loss you need answering, let's see if this post helps
So I thought I would write a very quick post on some of the most frequently asked questions regarding weight loss. Hopefully this post will help and I have answered some of the burning questions you may be thinking about.
Do I need to do a load of cardio to achieve weight loss? The answer is no. Cardio is one way to achieve weight loss yes, but it is not the only way neither is it the most effective. Weight training is as important when it comes to weight loss. Developing the muscles and improving lean muscle growth improves our BMR which in turn burns more calories. Do I need to just eat salads and follow a really tedious nutrition plan? Again the answer is no. It's very simple when it comes to weight loss. We need to burn more calories than we consume. The reason most people gain weight is due to consuming more calories on a daily basis than they burn, even if that includes a workout. Learning which food groups have a higher Kcal per gram and how the body uses certain food groups is the key to a successful nutrition plan for weight loss. Is it best to lose weight in a short time frame or over a longer period? Losing a lot of weight in the short term can happen, but you are more likely to put the weight back on in the near future due to the diet being unsustainable. Losing 2-4lbs per week is the ideal amount. This will allow your body to adjust to the changes and give you a far better chance in the long term of keeping the weight off.
Do I have to take shakes and a tonne of other supplements? Anything you can get in a supplement when it comes to weight loss, you can get from fresh and nutritious foods. Supplements are more used for their easiness and/or for busy lifestyles on the go.
Do I need to allow 1-2 hours per day in the gym to achieve my goals? Absolutely not. It is all about the effectiveness of the workouts you do, rather than the quantity. Around 45minutes is on average the perfect length of time for a good workout. This can be done either at the gym, or in the comfort of your own home. One of the best tools when it comes to weight loss is your own body weight. Rest days are also as important as training days. Your body needs time to recover. I always recommend my clients to train between 3-4 times per week on average.
